The international education community has been affected by the sudden closure of ILAC’s operations.
According to Languages Canada, it was informed on Friday, September 18, 2026, that ILAC’s school operations would be shut down at the end of that day.
We recognize that this news has created considerable uncertainty for students, staff, families, education agents and others connected to the institution.
Support for affected language students
Languages Canada is currently coordinating support for students affected by the closure of ILAC’s language programs.
In its September 21 update, Languages Canada stated that it had contacted all affected students for whom it currently had information. Its team is working to place these students in similar language programs offered by other Languages Canada member institutions.
Priority is being given to students whose programs were scheduled to finish soon, helping them recover as much of their remaining class time as possible.
Because of the number of students involved, the placement process may take time.
What affected students should do
Students affected by the closure are encouraged to:
- Check their email, including spam and junk folders, for communication from Languages Canada.
- Follow the instructions provided in any official communication they receive.
- Visit the Languages Canada website if they have not yet been contacted.
- Avoid sending multiple inquiries about the same situation unless they have important new information to provide.
- Continue checking the official Languages Canada webpage for further updates.
Important information about program placements
The placement process currently being coordinated by Languages Canada relates specifically to students enrolled in ILAC language programs.
ILAC also offered high school and career college programs. Students enrolled in those programs should continue following information provided by the appropriate organizations and regulatory or sector bodies.
