Program Overview

This course is designed for students to improve their conversation and verbal skills, functional language and vocabulary and idioms. The program is available, online and in-person, from beginner to advanced levels.

Teachers provide a friendly environment and use current issues, topical subjects and popular culture to create an inclusive atmosphere for energetic, thought-provoking and enjoyable communication through brainstorming, pair work, group work, group discussions, debate and roleplay.

The 5-week Let’s Talk About It course is continuous and can be joined or renewed anytime, while the 8-week Workplace Communication course runs in scheduled cohorts.

Learning Outcomes

Discuss contemporary issues and popular culture

Learn to clearly express opinions, give advice, state preferences and talk on the phone

Improve speaking skills with new vocabulary and idioms

Entrance Requirements

Have proven English proficiency of at least a Canadian Language Benchmark of 2+.

Before registering for a course, students will need to provide proof of English proficiency. This can be done by providing a valid IELTS, TOEFL, CLBPT or CELPIP score or by taking LCC’s online English assessment. 

  • Must be at least 17 years old to enroll in an ESL program
