Improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing! Our General English programs cover all the major components of learning English.

Each week students learn new content and expand their English skills with our experienced instructors.  Active participation as well as completion of assigned homework are encouraged throughout the course.

Students who re-register for this program may not need to pay the registration fee. More information.

Depending on class seat availability, students may be asked to start their course or program at a later date.

Learning Outcomes

Use new grammar and vocabulary in conversations and writing

Improve reading skills such as scanning and identifying meaning from context

Speak more fluently and listen more accurately with in-class discussions

Entrance Requirements

Have proven English proficiency of at least a Canadian Language Benchmark of 1+.  Students will be placed in a level-specific General English class based on their English assessment scores or proof of English proficiency.

Before registering for a course, students will need to provide proof of English proficiency. This can be done by providing a valid IELTS, TOEFL, CLBPT or CELPIP score or by taking LCC’s free online English assessment. 

  • Must be at least 17 years old to enroll in an ESL program
