This diploma program introduces students to fundamental skills of job search and business communication using the communicative approach. Areas of focus include exploration of a wide variety of business topics including finance, trade, marketing, customer service and office management skills. Students are required to do independent activities, graded assignments and/or exams for each course.

Students who successfully meet all academic requirements will receive a Business diploma.

Registration fee: $150.

Students who register more than once in this program within 1 year, may not need to pay the registration fee again.

Classes start on Mondays. If the class is full on your preferred Monday, the registrar will give you a future date.

You will:
  • Practice business vocabulary for a wide range of work-related topics
  • Speak English professionally to find and keep work in Canada
  • Write effective business letters, emails and other documents
  • Handle challenging telephone conversations
  • Understand basic accounting, banking and finance ideas
  • Create Canadian-style resumes and cover letters for your job search

If you successfully complete the Business Diploma program, you can enter higher level LCC Diploma programs – and some other Canadian college and university programs – without another English entrance exam.  Talk to our registrars for details!

Entrance Requirements

Before registering, you are required to provide proof of English Proficiency. This can be done by providing a valid IELTS, TOEFL, CLBPT or CELPIP score, or by taking LCC’s free online English assessment.

  • You need a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 4 or higher in at least two skills (no skill lower than 3), OR show  successful completion of equivalent ESL courses to enrol in BDP.
  • Students with higher CLB levels but no Canadian work experience or resume are also encouraged to take BDP, which will prepare you to work in Canada.
  • A BDP diploma may be used to show that a graduate meets the language requirements of programs requiring CLB 5 or above.
