Diploma Overview

The Global Tourism Diploma (GTD) program is designed to introduce concepts and develop skills needed to be a competent member of an international travel planning team.  This program provides a background on tourism service suppliers and their social, cultural and political impact, as well as practical introductions to event planning, tour guiding, tourism promotion and customer service. Case studies and common travel problems will be examined.

Global Tourism Diploma with Co-op

Study Term

During their study term, students complete the required coursework for their Global Tourism Diploma. In addition, students complete elective coursework which will help them improve their English language skills and competencies.

Work Term

During their work term, students are encouraged to work in a job related to their Global Tourism Diploma. To assist students in their job hunting, LCC offers free job support services to help our co-op students find work.

48 Week
Career Co-op Program

24 weeks of classroom instruction and 24 weeks of Canadian work experience.

Depending on class seat availability, students may be asked to start their course or program at a later date.

Class start time:  12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Choose one of the following elective programs and one time slot
Test Preparation:
Class start time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Intensive English (level 5 -7)
Class start time(s): 09:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Program Tuition Fees:
$4,710 – $5,940*

64 Week
Career Co-op Program

32 weeks of classroom instruction and 32 weeks of Canadian work experience.

Begin your co-op program with the Business Diploma Program (8 weeks).

Co-op
Entrance Requirements

Before registering for a program you will need to provide proof of English Proficiency. This can be done by providing a valid IELTS, TOEFL, CLBPT or CELPIP score or by taking LCC’s free online English assessment. 

 

  • Have proven English proficiency of at least a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 or higher in at least two skills (no skill lower than 4), OR successful completion of the Business Diploma Program (BDP).

Students with higher CLB levels but no Canadian work experience or resume are also encouraged to take BDP. Students with English levels below CLB 4 must enroll in language courses (not part of this diploma program) and provide evidence of sufficient English levels before beginning the diploma program(s).

By the start of the co-op work component, students must:
-Have successfully completed the co-op study component.
-Have a Canadian Study Permit and Co-op Work Permit
-Have a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN).
-Have valid medical insurance coverage.
