Diploma Overview
The International Business Management Skills (IBMS) Diploma program is designed to introduce concepts and develop skills needed to manage a business in an international context.  IBMS introduces students to practical skills of international workplace management using a communicative approach. Areas of focus will include the cultural context of global management, creating global teams and networks, cross-cultural negotiation and decision-making, international management ethics, risk assessment and management, trade finance, payment methods, and formulating global strategies.

International Business Management Skills Diploma with Co-op

Study Term

During their study term, students complete the required coursework for their International Business Management Skills Diploma. In addition, students complete elective coursework which will help them improve their English language skills and competencies.

Work Term

During their work term, students are encouraged to work in a job related to their International Business Management Skills Diploma. To assist students in their job hunting, LCC offers free job support services to help our co-op students find work.

Career Options
Career options for graduates include jobs in which they will be responsible for administrative and
supervisory tasks. Examples of occupational codes that are relevant for this course are:

48 Week
Career Co-op Program

24 weeks of classroom instruction and 24 weeks of Canadian work experience.

64 Week
Career Co-op Program

32 weeks of classroom instruction and 32 weeks of Canadian work experience.

Co-op
Entrance Requirements

Before registering for a program you will need to provide proof of English Proficiency. This can be done by providing a valid IELTS, TOEFL, CLBPT or CELPIP score or by taking LCC’s free online English assessment. 

 

  • Have proven English proficiency of at least a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 or higher in at least two skills (no skill lower than 4), OR successful completion of the Business Diploma Program (BDP).

Students with higher CLB levels but no Canadian work experience or resume are also encouraged to take BDP. Students with English levels below CLB 4 must enroll in language courses (not part of this diploma program) and provide evidence of sufficient English levels before beginning the diploma program(s).

By the start of the co-op work component, students must:
-Have successfully completed the co-op study component.
-Have a Canadian Study Permit and Co-op Work Permit
-Have a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN).
-Have valid medical insurance coverage.
