LCC is committed to supporting students before enrollment, upon arrival, and throughout their studies. We provide a range of services, supports, and facilities to help students succeed academically and have a positive learning experience. 

Our Registrars provide information and referrals for services, supports, and facilities to help students succeed academically and have a positive learning experience including enrolment, program outlines, housing, transportation, medical insurance, childcare, community services, academic support, and employment resources. Our Senior Educational Administrator (SEA) ensures program quality and oversees instructor performance evaluations. 

Prospective students may contact the Admissions Office for information about programs, services, and institutional policies prior to submitting an application. 

Orientation 

New students participate in an orientation session with a Registrar at the start of their program. Orientation introduces students to: 

  • Program structure and course expectations 
  • Institutional policies and procedures 
  • Student services and available supports 
  • Campus facilities and learning resources 

Education and Program Progression Assistance 

Students receive guidance to help them successfully progress through their programs and complete their studies. 

Support includes: 

  • Program orientation and explanation of program requirements 
  • Academic advising from instructors and/or Instructional Coordinator   
  • Monitoring of academic progress 
  • Guidance on course sequencing and program completion requirements 
  • Assistance for students who are experiencing academic difficulties 

 Students are encouraged to seek assistance from their instructor, and/or the Instructional Coordinator if they require support with their academic progress. 

Learning Support Services 

Learning support services are available to help students develop the skills needed to succeed academically. 

These services may include: 

  • Academic guidance and support from instructors 
  • One-on-one study skills assistance, including time management and exam preparation arranged by the Instructional Coordinator 
  • Recommendations of learning resources and learning materials 
  • Access to one-on-one tutoring 

Students who require additional support are encouraged to speak with their instructor or make an appointment with the Instructional Coordinator. 

Student Well-Being and Community Resources 

Students who require additional personal or non-academic support may be referred to appropriate community services and resources in the local area by our Registrars. 

Staff can help students locate community resources that support their well-being. 

Facilities and Learning Environment 

Students have access to facilities that support their learning experience, including: 

  • Classrooms and instructional spaces 
  • Equipment and instructional materials required for the program 
  • Learning resources used to support instruction 
  • The Student Hub (#206) equipped with computers, microwaves, coffee machine and instant hot water dispenser as well as space for socializing 

 

Ongoing Student Support 

Student support continues throughout the program. Students are encouraged to communicate with instructors or the Instructional Coordinator if they require assistance with academic or administrative matters at any time during their studies.

Paivi Kehler

Instructional Coordinator

Since moving to Canada in 1994, Paivi has taught all levels of ESL, TOEFL, IELTS, TESOL, Workplace English, International Business Management Skills and even keyboarding. She has a B.A. in English Philology with a minor in Swedish, International Trade certificates, management experience and TESL Canada certification. In her free time she likes to read, do crossword puzzles, and spend time on the Sunshine Coast with her family.

Arina is a dedicated educator with over 27 years of experience in teaching not only ESL but also vocational courses like Professional Communication and Marketing, International Business Management Skills, Leadership Preparation Diploma and TESOL.  She has a BA, an MA, and a TESL Canada Level 3 certificate. She loves working at LCC in a multicultural environment that emphasizes belonging, diversity and inclusion.  She believes that when we care about those around us and share a bit of our hearts and time with those who need us, we offer an example of what the world can become: a place for everyone to grow and thrive.

LCC offers comprehensive education and program progression assistance to support students from the moment they enroll through to graduation and career transition. This assistance helps students understand their academic pathways, develop essential language and professional skills, and confidently move toward their personal, educational, and employment goals. 

Academic Advising and Pathway Planning

Students receive one-on-one guidance from registrars who help them: 

  • Select the most suitable program based on their language level, career goals, and prior education. 
  • Understand program requirements, course sequences, and timelines. 
  • Identify opportunities for pathway programs, such as transitions from language studies to vocational diplomas. 

Ongoing Progress Monitoring

To ensure success, instructors track students’ development by: 

  • Conducting regular assessments and course evaluations. 
  • Providing feedback on academic performance and skill-building. 
  • Recommending tutoring, support workshops, or modified study plans when needed. 

Language Support and Skill Development

LCC offers English language proficiency through: 

  • Structured ESL/EAL/test preparation curriculum tailored to academic and workplace communication.

Students preparing for employment or career advancement benefit from:
